Italian Castagnole for Carnival

Hello Foodies! How are you? We are Carnival time and so you have to celebrate properly. Ready to eat tasty  and very  sweet things? Here’s a classic Italian Carnival recipe sent by our dear collaborator Mafi. Small soft balls to satisfy your appetite. Yummy!. Enjoy them! 😉

-300 G flour

-2 eggs

-50 gr melted butter

-60 gr sugar

– 5 large spoons of Grappa / other liquor

– ½ teaspoon of baking powder

-Zest of 1 lemon

-Peanut Oil

Let’s begin!

Put all ingredients in a bowl. Mix them well. Once you have obtained a homogeneous paste let rest for 30 minutes.

Are you ready? Now comes the fun! Especially if you are cooking with the kids of the family. Make small balls with the help of a little flour, if necessary.

Once you have done all the balls, put the oil to heat.

When the oil is hot but does not boil fry your “carnival castagnole”.

Drain on paper towel and after that… just missing the final touch: sugar! Sprinkle powdered sugar or granulated. The one you like.

Now call family and friends ready with their masks and costumes  and celebrate carnival with these little Italian sweets.

And may the creativity be with you to find the most original costumes 😉
